Measuring reperfusion in the catheter laboratory

چکیده
Primary angioplasty has evolved as the reperfusion strategy of choice in acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction. Unlike thrombolytic therapy, it allows for direct visualization of the coronary anatomy and a targeted approach to revascularization. This is associated with significant improvements in culprit artery patency, distal myocardial perfusion, and, ultimately, patient prognosis. Assessment of reperfusion in this setting is heavily dependent upon the angiographic profile of the infarct-related artery after intervention. This incorporates both anatomical and physiological aspects of coronary function, with further delineation of epicardial and microvascular components of total coronary flow. More recent advances in contrast echocardiography and Doppler flow analysis have allowed for increasingly sophisticated and diverse measures of reperfusion that complement angiography and can all be used at the time of intervention in the catheter laboratory. Such information can guide immediate adjuvant therapy during angioplasty, in addition to identifying higher-risk groups of patients. Heart Metab. 2007;37:9–13.

Orexin-A Improves Hepatic Injury Following Renal Ischemia Reperfusion in Rats
Introduction: Orexins are novel neuropeptides that are localized in neurons in the lateral hypothalamus. They are implicated in a wide variety of physiological functions. Orexin peptides and receptors are found in many peripheral organs such as kidneys. It has been demonstrated that exogenous orexin-A can induce protective effects against ischemia–reperfusion injury in many organs. The goal ...
متن کاملThe ability of uropathogenic Escherichia coli isolates in biofilm formation on urinary catheter and association with bcsA and draE genes
The product biofilm by E.coli strain can cause serious problem for human health. Catheter is considered to be s suitable place for colonization of microorganisms, so that in %5-10 of patients who used catheter for only one day and also in all patients who used it for over 28 days, this colonization of bacteria is observed on catheter. This study is come out in order to compare biofilm formation...
متن کاملEffect of Nigella sativa on ischemia-reperfusion induced rat kidney damage
Objective(s):There are a few previously reported studies about the effect of Nigella sativa oil on renal ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI). The aim of the present study was to test the hypothesis whether pre- or post-treatment with N. sativa hydroalcoholic extract (NSE) would reduce tissue injury and oxidative damages in a clinically relevant rat model of renal IRI. Materials and Methods: IR...
متن کاملThe successful withdrawal of a migrated central venous catheter
Background: Central venous catheters (CVCs) have been used widely in clinics. These catheters are also recommended for children and infants receiving chemotherapy and total parenteral nutrition (TPN) and etc. In this paper, we present migrated fractured control line of the heart of a girl. Case Presentation: A 2.5 year old girl with migrated of the fractured central line into the heart. In the ...
متن کاملPulmonary Embolism as a Complication after radiofrequency catheter ablation Study: A Case Report
Pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE) is a fatal condition that may rarely occur due to complications of coronary catheter insertion. In this case report, a 41-year-old male was presented 48 hours after radiofrequency catheter ablation(RFCA) for the management of Wolf-Parkinson-White syndromewith acute onset of dyspnea, hemoptysis, and chest pain. The physical examination revealed coarse crackles in ...
